Cenikor Foundation is a non-profit organization and one of the largest substance use treatment centers in the nation. We are currently seeking an Accountant in our corporate office located in Houston, TX.

SCHEDULE: Monday -Friday 8am -5pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other relevant accounting standards.

2. Provide financial reports to stakeholders, including the CFO, officers, donors, and regulatory authorities.

3. Provide oversight of the accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable.

4. Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process in collaboration with various locations and departments.

5. Provide financial forecasts and projections to assist in strategic planning.

6. Establish and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.

7. Conduct regular internal audits to identify and address potential issues.

8. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and funding requirements. Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and ensure the organization's accounting practices remain current and compliant.

9. Manage financial aspects of grants and contracts, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance.

10. Work closely with facility directors and program managers to track and report on the use of grant funds.

11. Oversee cash flow and liquidity management to ensure the organization's financial stability.

12. Monitor and manage banking relationships, including reconciliations.

13. Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making by senior management.

14. Analyze financial trends and make recommendations for improvement.

15. Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.

16. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to guide the organization's financial practices.

17. Train staff on financial policies and ensure adherence to them.

18. Work with CFO to implement and maintain accounting software and systems to streamline financial processes.

19. Stay current on technological advancements in financial management.

20. Make recommendations to CFO for improvement and/or change to existing standards and procedures.

21. Act as an internal resource to enhance awareness and understanding of best practices, risk management and use of controls by management and staff.

22. Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters.

23. Perform additional duties as assigned and consistent with the exempt functions as defined in this job description.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

· Ability to have excellent organizational skills.

· Ability to work with great attention to detail and accurately record numerical data.

· Experienced in working with diverse population.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office software required, including MS Excel and Outlook calendar.

· Travel up to 15% required.

· Strong ethical and business standards.

· Ability to lead by established goals and objectives.

Education:

· Bachelor's degree required.

· Master's degree required.

· CPA preferred.

Experience:

· Minimum of five years of accounting experience required.

· Minimum of two years of grant management and contract compliance experience required.

· Experience in working with governmental licensing agencies preferred.

· Experience with health care or education is preferred.
